FAQ
Based on mentees’ individualized syllabuses, this might be either 1-on-1 or a team study.
We anticipate that mentees and mentors will meet once a week for approximately two hours.
Our mentors and mentees meet in interactive sessions via the Zoom program. Also, we use Google Classroom for document and video sharing, and continuous communication.
Our curriculum is designed such that mentees engage in project-based activities and advance in milestones. Our mentors check and comment on assigned tasks during and after meetings by using Google Classroom and Zoom. Also, we create an electronic portfolio for each mentee. The student and his/her parents have access to the student’s portfolio.
We offer multiple modules. Each module lasts 12 weeks.
The first criteria for mentors are to have an extensive background in a specific field that they are mentoring.
- They have the required skills for mentorship.
- They have gone through our technical and pedagogical training
- They have experience with mentoring K-12 students.
We select our mentors from exclusively successful academics from the top universities such as Stanford and the University of California Berkeley, and professionals from the most successful companies such as Google and IBM.
Again, we have mentors from the most successful career backgrounds. We train our mentor pedagogically, and as a standard procedure, our mentors are going through background check as well.
As mentioned earlier, we select mentors with prior experience with students and mentoring. We are also very selective in having good social and communication skills.
Plus, we trained how to communicate and approach the students. We trained them to approach them with a “growth mindset”.
Additionally, all our mentors are guided by supervisors from the company. Supervisors are also meeting students regularly.
If they see a mismatch and communication gap, they support the process and change the mentor if needed. o.
The expected outcomes of the College Bound eMentoring program include a letter of recommendations from top academics and professionals, career exploration opportunities, compelling college application portfolios as well as experiences that boost lifelong skills and abilities, and college application consultancy.
We help our mentees to make decisions on their career paths and provide consultancy including tips and strategies on their college application portfolios. 2 weeks of the module is explicitly allocated for these topics.
